Letting Go of Yesterday

Laying in a hammock
Swaying back and forth
Reminiscing long gone fun
Remembering what was done.

Sitting on a swing
Poised above the ground
In your eyes are tears
About all the lost years.

You can't fix the past
But you can do this:
Loathe? I don't think so
Forgive your ex: let go!

Your poem gently balances reflection and resilience with graceful rhythm. The imagery of motion adds a sense of release—letting go becomes both literal and emotional. It’s quietly empowering.

Thank you. :) I first wrote this 4 years ago (the 3rd part is bran-new) after I saw my heartbroken neighbor sitting in a hammock and then on a swing.
