Letting Go

LETTING GO

Forever wasn't meant to be
Dreaming past the present was never a possibility
Imagining just you and I was inconceivable

I feared losing my liberty
And the ability to be me

Jettisoning my variable character
Having my soul eaten away
Erosion of my psyche
All I feared you would do to destroy me

Us becoming we was scary

Physically I am free
Emotionally you have imprisoned me
A strong hold you have on me
Thinking of you threatens to destroy my Fragility

Our past will never be dissolved
Or allowed to inhabit the recesses of our minds
To become not even a passing memory
To release me

One day I may break free
I hold the key but
Letting go is very hard for me
