Notes About The Poem

For the "lets tango " contest sponsored by Shadow Hamilton

Lets Tango

The anatomy of a poet’s heart ebbs and flows~
  sometimes like the swirling ocean,
fluent in idyllic idioms and mystical metaphors,
woven from aesthetic elements of nature,
for inspirations glide through warm waves,
crashing on shores, when emotions rise with turbulent tides.

Yet today the turquoise seems lusterless,
gloomy clouds overshadow every faultless ripple,
that shines and rhymes amidst cruel currents of time,
leaving ink afloat in blackened seas of sorrow,
reminiscing sapphire blues that unfurled artistic skies,
and here I lay my dreams on an oceanic bed,
embellished with rainbow pearls and rubies,
concealing oozing torrents gushing out of aching arteries,
while magical hues merge with magenta melancholia,
as amethyst afterglows adorn the hushed horizon,
    I remain poetically stable…

IE, the first stanza strikes me as a Tango since there's drama and action that's strong and directed. The second one makes me think the music changed a bit to an interlude. It's the softer gentler steps in the dance that make the strong steps stand out more. You are making me think and apply different things...a real mental exercise and smile creator!

I love the ending. "concealing oozing torrents gushing out of aching arteries." This one's imagery is so distinct and pure. I could almost feel it. "for inspirations glide through warm waves, crashing on shores, when emotions rise with turbulent tides." Inspirations and emotions go hand in hand. Great piece as always Ink.

I love the ocean metaphors here and of course you must love the ocean, Ink. Glad to see you got around to this challenge. I used an oldie comparing life to a dance. I love how you ended on the note of being poetically stable!

Creative lines for the contest. Reads like a good contender to me for the contest. Way to go. To me it reads as if The Tango was fine then something happened to the relationship. Your visit to my page was uplifting. Sara K

Metaphors and descriptions dance to your poetic tunes, my friend. Emotions paint the ebb and flow of poetic mind. --blackened seas of sorrow ---oozing torrents--perfectly convey melancholic vibes while the ending shines the afterglow. Excellent as always, Ink.

Great poem for the contest, It beautifully captures the ebb and flow of a poet's heart, where emotions and inspirations intertwine like the swirling ocean currents. The imagery of idyllic idioms and mystical metaphors woven from nature's elements is enchanting. However, amidst the beauty, there's a poignant acknowledgment of sorrow and regret, symbolized by the lustreless turquoise and the overshadowing gloom of clouds.

The poem skillfully navigates the complexities of emotions, laying bare dreams amidst the blackened seas of sorrow, yet finding stability in poetic expression. Truly, a captivating exploration of the depths of the human experience."
