Lets Start a New Normal
I told her about the real me,
Who I love and who Im gonna be.
She looked at me with utter disgust,
I’m sitting there crying,
My confidence about to bust.
How can I love myself,
When my own mother doesn’t.
How can I come out to the world,
When my mother shunned me.
Everything about equality is wrong,
the only thing that people see,
is a twisted version of their own fantasies.
Being gay shouldn’t have to be fought for,
Being straight shouldn’t be the social “norm”
How about we teach each other,
That being gay is all right.
Let’s stop all the suicide’s that happen every night.
Let’s start a life with love and respect,
And maybe, just maybe,
That could be the new social “norm.”
