Let's Just Enjoy Poems Okay

Poems cannot be compared with each other.
For it would be like comparing ashtrays to elm trees.
Or comparing sunbeams to caterpillar’s feet.

Poems can be chosen as favorites by us
At this second based on our own experiences
and how our heart and soul has reacted to her words

But if you asked us to compare them tomorrow
We might come up with totally different likes and reasons why
Because of our experiences or dreams tonight.

So let’s not compare them,
let’s just enjoy them.
Okay?

I have personal favorite poems, Caren, that don't compare to any others. Keats Ode to a Grecian Urn, Rilke's The Panther, a Bowl of Roses, Hermes, Apollo and Eurydice, and several Dickinson poems. Reading these poems (and others) makes me happy to have been born. Best to you. / M

I have my favorite - Samuel T. Coleridge. My secondary favorites are Shel Silverstein and Dr. Seuss. I am a simple woman with simple tastes.

To savor each while being read is a pleasure within... to compare them would be like comparing a country singer to a rock star. Each is unique and reaches out to others in different ways! I enjoyed this write Caren :) hugs

Thank you Sandra. I know that people get their feelings hurt rather quickly, especially poets. But frankly, poems cannot be compared. Only appreciated and approved. Smile.
