Let Your Light Shine Through
We are masterpieces for we are uniquely created, masterfully crafted
with our traits or qualities, gifts and talents to shine.

LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE THROUGH
We are all given gifts and talents.
It is up to us to acknowledge or discover
and it is our responsibility to work on,
develop, fine tune, optimize and use
our gifts and talents to light up our stars
to shine bright and spread the light reflecting
what are given to us into the world.
I wanted to be a dancer when I was a little girl.
I just settled on dreaming of it for where
I grew up; the focus was more on academics,
than artistic talents for they were more
expensive to pursue, going to private lessons
and requiring transportation for practices.
However, I was always chosen to dance
and perform in front of big audiences.
In my heart and in my soul, I have a talent
in dancing and I let that gift shone bright
to spread the light on the people watching.
Fate intervened, marrying young, having
children, divorcing spouses, becoming
a single parent and working like a log
to provide for and support my children.
I became their shining star in my own way,
their light to see the bright side of life.
I gave my all in every position I had.
I developed my traits and qualities,
learned and used all the resources
and became skilled in each of them.
I shone for contributing my knowledge,
my proposals for better procedures;
thereby, getting promotions, receiving
awards, praises giving me significance.
I am now in my golden years and find
my star shining more brightly for
I am sharpening my talent in dancing
and discovered my other talents in writing
poetry, drawing and choreography.
Here I am, a star shining brightly
spreading the light reflecting the
gifts and talents given to me to share
this bright light to everyone I touch.
