Let Truth Burn Away Your Deceptive Cloak, Sonnet Doubles

Sonnet Doubles: First sonnet Let Truth Burn Away Your Deceptive Cloak Let truth burn away your deceptive cloak lower vanity's shield, go have a smoke, even if, a diamond, in love's gold crown life shows greater rise, after falling down! In vanity's false, self-proclaimed state live many victims of their own dark hate, darkness, its power holds so many keys to locks and chains, stopping those who would flee! Look inward to devilish chains of hate beg mercy and tempt not, a darker fate, seek the moment, to let kindness prevail cross joyous oceans under, pure white sails! Black cloud that holds, your happy life at bay Is but selfish sin, you have given sway! Robert J. Lindley, 11-20-2019 Sonnet, ( Living in this dark world, one should seek waiting light ) 2nd sonnet When Night Comes, Be Not Afraid Of Its Dark When dawn sends rays of hope into your life allow its golden glow, to wipe away strife rise to give deep thanks and bow head to pray seize its power to keep dark world at bay! When new day, brings a stormy afternoon believe brighter times will be coming soon hitch your horse to wagon and give free reign to trod to heart's true desire and remain! When night comes, be not afraid of its dark although new scenes may be scarily stark have faith that again com'eth morn's first rays blessings sent to all who sincerely prays! Fear apathy that oft birth newfound woes And world's black lies that cry-- anything goes! Robert J. Lindley, 11-20-2019 Sonnets Doubles, ( Words On Faith, Hope And Truth- And World's Dark Course )

It's settled: I'm getting a tattoo. "Let truth burn away your deceptive cloak lower vanity's shield, go have a smoke". That's on my left shoulder. "When night comes, be not afraid of its dark although new scenes may be scarily stark". That's on the right one. Gothic style et cetera. But seriously, I can't figure out how you can write double sonnets. Never seen anything like that in my life. How? HOW? You must be truly not a mere human)

Thank you my friend. I write what comes to me from my 50 years of composing poetry. Having read many, many thousands of poems- I guess the massive mix of verses bring on newer combinations and the poetry goddess helps me to choose which ones to include in the new poem. Tattoo, eh? Be careful, those verses would require a lot of ink! God bless......

If you allow hate, darkness and lies to hold you- then you will drown in its misery. If you allow light, hope and truth to guide you- peace is found. Your thoughts hold so many moments and emotions. This is so beautifully written and presented my dear friend. ~ Brandy

Thank you my friend. I am so pleased that you see merit in these two inspired sonnets. Began several weeks ago from a very vivid and inspiring dream that I had.

Thank you my friend. I do my best to follow the immense and glowing path that poetry lights for us all. If I stumble and I do - then I read the golden poets of old to reopen my eyes and then race forth to try to catch up! Fifty years racing now and thankfully I stumble just a little bit less often now.
