Let Peace Return

A proud country trying to break away
From the old legacy of the mighty Union
And build a modern free nation
Is invaded uninstigated by the powerful neighbor. 

In the senseless Russo-Ukraine conflict 
The military strengths are unequal
So, Russia planned and thought complacent
It will overrun the country in no time.

But this has not happened yet
For the resolute and patriotic Ukrainians
Have given a strong resistance
For the advance of the Russian army.

The conflict stemming from geopolitics
For the imposition of illogical tutelage
Has caused innocent civilians undeserving agony
Homeless millions flee, parents see children die. 

Ominous gunpowder smoke billows in the air
All the birds have disappeared from Kyiv’s sky
World hopes they will fly back with good times
Sense will prevail in the crazy mind, peace will return.
