Note About the Poem
This poem was written in the wake of my deep bereavement,
as a way of holding on to love for my husband that continues beyond his death.
It speaks to devotion, longing, and the wild persistence of the heart —
even when loss feels unbearable.
Sometimes grief is not quiet; sometimes it is fierce, defiant.
This is grief turned rebellion. The “wild” here is not madness but fidelity —
love that outlives norms, reason, even death. It transforms mourning into resistance.
