Let Go

I looked in the mirror
What did I see
I saw piece by piece of me
Falling away

Like a snake shedding skin
So he can grow stronger
These were pieces of my past
Keeping me from my future

Afraid of the changes
I held on so tight
Because out of my control
Is just not my style

Then finally one day
I fell to the ground
Crying and begging
For relief from this trauma

I picked myself up
Brushed off the pain
Looked in the mirror
Saw this beautiful being

If ever a time comes
When your afraid of losing control
Think not of the past you
Just move on and let go

Out of all the ashes
From all of the fear
Gives you a chance to build better
A new improved you
