Let Go

I don't know how I got there
But I didn't want to let go
I wanted to hold on longer
I wanted to stay where I was

I didn't intend to let go
Maybe I slipped
Maybe I didn't hold on tight enough

Now I'm left sitting alone
Reaching for the hand I wanted to hold a little longer
Like a flower
On a bright morning
As it lurches towards the sunlight

I'll try again tomorrow
And maybe
Just maybe
I'll be able to hold on
A little longer.
