Lessons Learned
The heart knows it's nemesis
And guards from each attack
But somehow it always falters
And the pain keeps coming back
Your mind acts as a sentry
Deciding who to believe
Choosing those to welcome
Who mean not to deceive
But the heart takes precedence
And overrules the mind
A malignant burst of emotion
That once was so benign
Lessons learned cast aside
Your destined to repeat
Mistakes once learned but now forgotten
With the very next one you meet
