Lessons from Trees
The winds that make the seedlings sway,
ensure that they upright will stay.
As fibers flex and tissues stress,
resilience grows as wind gusts press.
If trees are grown where no wind blows,
their trunks will not sturdily grow.
Instead of standing strong and tall,
they will soon bend over and fall.
Troubles and cares are like the wind,
they afflict us because of sin.
But though they cause our souls to bend,
we are made stronger in the end.
Trees crave the bright rays of the sun,
to her their tops do always run.
Like them we too should crave the Son,
and worship Him for all He’s done.
Leaves breathe in that which we exhale,
their oxygen we then inhale.
Without the trees we will all die
as oxygen’s supply run dry.
Let’s take the trials that life brings
and turn them into useful things.
So, like the trees our lives can be
a stream of blessings that is free.
Trees whose deep roots for cisterns scout,
stay green even at times of drought.
They’re anchored firmly in the ground,
and stay standing though fierce winds pound.
To rise above sin’s stress and strife,
we must let God anchor our life.
Then when the storms of life are passed
we’ll dwell with Him, in heaven at last.
