Less Lights

Your lights don't seem to shine as they used to,
You used to leave them on throughout the night,
As a child I welcomed them with the coming of Christmas.
Today its only "Happy Holidays", less lights, less you.

I remember branches for a tree,
And how your children thrilled to see,
You work your daily miracles as this,
Your tying branches to form a Christmas tree.

And the presents that appeared beneath it,
Coloring books and crayons wrapped so splendidly,
We believed ours to be the best of Christmas.
It was the best because you made it so.

I enjoyed reading your poetry this morning Ruben. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. I am going to see if I can write something for a couple contests this weekend. Hope you find the inspiration to do the same. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours. Love, Carol
