Leaving, But For a Better Place

A leaf makes its way down from the highest tree
Bound to the earth from the days winds
Lucky enough to find voyage on a nearby stream

Not knowing its destination, it finds a voyage
Where the unknown now awaits its arrival
As it enjoys the current, the force of the water

It feels fear, but for a moment, as it smiles in the sun
It knows, or rather believes, it will find its way
To a new home, where it will be loved as before

Night approaches, it feels the fingers of darkness
As it comes closer to its final destination
When it stops, the water dries, it’s now curbside

Then, without warning, fingers reach, touch, raise it
As eyes fall upon it from a youthful soul
Who admires the colors, the sharpness, the beauty

It is taken to a place where there are others like him
Framed for posterity, but loved as decoration
It has found its home upon the walls of leave’s dreams

Michael - First let me thank you for pointing that out to me it was "Quiet" Now this is a wonderful poem and a perfect example why I'm spending my time reading instead of writing these days - wonderful poem not to mention observation - Blessings to you my friend

YAY!!! You've got to love a happy ending. :) What a great journey recounted here in Mr. Leaf. I have his brothers and sisters on my wall, right in front of me. :) Beautiful, M - Love Kristin
