Leaves In the Pool

a crisp cool wind blows
leaves into the swimming pool
fall has quietly arrived

no laughing children
splashing under the warm sun
they’ve grown up and flown away

The empty nest syndrome, as long as they are all happy healthy, studying or qualified and enjoying life. We also had my mother and my father-in-law staying with us and they both passed on within about 4 years of each other and it was like having children around, so another empty nest syndrome. We sold our big house about 3 years ago, rented until we found what we liked and bought a small cottage a third of the size. Loved your write, so descriptive and homely. Hugs Jennifer

Whoa!! A sad time especially when the last one has flown the nest. I enjoyed reading this one. Your visit to my page was a delight. Sara
