Leaves In the Pool

a crisp cool wind blows
leaves into the swimming pool
fall has quietly arrived

no laughing children
splashing under the warm sun
they’ve grown up and flown away

Jennifer Proxenos Date: 12/20/2021 5:24:00 AM The empty nest syndrome, as long as they are all happy healthy, studying or qualified and enjoying life. We also had my mother and my father-in-law staying with us and they both passed on within about 4 years of each other and it was like having children around, so another empty nest syndrome. We sold our big house about 3 years ago, rented until we found what we liked and bought a small cottage a third of the size. Loved your write, so descriptive and homely.
