Least Favorite Poem

i was created, much like a poem
not through love, rather penned
on a blank sheet of thoughtless words
that were spit out in darkness, devoid of feelings
wallowing in emotions that left me numb to touch
as i watched them ink me from the pools of crimson tears
that riddled every line of torturous scars atop child's flesh
then crumple me in little balls, and discard me as worthless
i wasn't their masterpiece, they never signed their name
i was the least favorite poem they ever wrote

One of the best things about Monday for me is getting to read all of the wonderful poetry you have posted over the weekend. Though sad, this was wonderfully crafted. The creativity in this is amazing. The emotions were felt strongly as an empty feelings coursed through my body as I read this. Exceptional my friend. Best wishes in the contest.

This brought tears to my eyes, I so relate to the tragedy of these words and actions, they maybe didn't know better, at least that's how I try to rationalize it. Like you say at least we learned from and try not to repeat it to others!

So sorry you had to go through this as well.. and yes it made us better people because of it. Things were different back when we were born. I am only a couple years under you ... they probably didn’t know better. Maybe that explains why we both love poems and lyrics with the melancholy feel... hugs my friend :)

Wow! Wonderful write, my friend. No wonder you are such a marvelous supporter for so many! "that riddled every line of torturous scars atop child's flesh then crumple me in little balls, and discard me as worthless" There is nothing like this to make you want to build up others. Terrifically done!

Well, you're my favorite poem now Sandra...I understand completely how it feels to be abandoned and discarded...for me, by love...may a thousand Angels come to comfort you, my friend...on the bright side? it has brought you to this place in time and nuance of thought that paints your poetic palette...we are Wounded Warriors against the grain...sword & shields up! lol...^WW^ :o)

Thank you my friend...it made me who i am...i am empathetic and compassionate towards even strangers in need, my oldest son takes after me totally and makes me proud of his acts of kindness and even prouder when he tells me he learned it from me...but hey past pain makes for some pretty good poems, right? hugs :)

They were not poets... clearly. You are a masterpiece created by a higher power. And you have written yourself anew, Sandra. It is clear to us, for we (even me, somehow ;) are the poets!! You are a treasure ~ ((hugs))
