Learning How To Give
This windfall came from out of the blue
I knew I could well spend it
But then the more I thought it through
I thought perhaps I'd lend it
So I was walking through my town
And stopped in for a bite
When on my way to go sit down
Something caught my sight
There on the counter sat a jar
With a note taped to it's side
Said "they really need a car
So they can take a ride
To the hospital in the city
To see their little girl
Who used to be so pretty
Now she hasn't so much as a curl"
It touched my heart to hear this tale
A child with cancer spread
I knew I'd help them without fail
To get to their child's sick bed
After all it's only money I thought
I needed to be kind
So before noon their car was bought
And them I went to find
They cried with relief and thanked me so
I told them not to worry
I gave them the keys and told them "go
You really need to hurry"
Well, long story short, the little one made it
She now is in remission
As for their friendship,I wouldn't trade it
And I don't want recognition
They said I was an earth angel here
And to them I was the best
As I wiped away a single tear
I said I'm the one who's blessed
