Lazy Porch Sitting On a Summers Day

jet plane
drills past
rambling sound

enjoying vegetation
I am tempted to jet nowhere
dog at my feet agrees
we are content

a lazy day
the only other sound is
a window air conditioner

helps my husband
keep the house
perpetually on freeze

why do you think
the dog and I are
out on the porch?

We are trying to warm up.

oh my, your hubbie is like mine. I finally let him turn the air on and now sometimes I wish it were OFF. Very well done, Caren.

We not only have central air that is set too low, he has added an extra window air unit in his already freezing office.

This one made me laugh Caren! I would be in the house too! Lol! Although when it's cool outside, I love some good porch sitting. Especially if there's a storm coming in. Blessings, Susan

I prefer outside to in almost a hundred percent of the time except in cold weather because it triggers my asthma.

I love the front porch; I am glad that mine is roomy and now clean. I did not plan to clean it, but could not stand it and finally did.

Caren, I enjoyed this poem, which pays tribute to one of MY favorite places--the front porch! Janice

When I was a child, all of the neighbors were out on their front porches in the evening, talking to each other while we children played some wonderful games. I do not see this any more, Janice. It saddens me.

I know both feelings: content - how powerful is that word? the joy of being content is, I think, as close to happiness as we get or need to get and, secondly, freezing from A/C and seeking either a lap blanket or, better yet, the sun shining upon your own domestic contentment. Now, if you only had a watermelon! You painted a picture that held much feel. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

Thank you CayCay. I tell you, this is how I am feeling right now. Wanting to run out to my porch and warm up. The dog is sleeping on the bed, but she will follow me, and we will have another blissful morning.

Can just picture the scene Caren, must admit I do use the AC when temperatures rise, touching 40c at the moment in Turkey. Tom.

Joe has the house down to freezer level usually. I am sitting around in my zip up zebra pajamas with a hood covered by a fluffy blanket in the summer.

I can relate to that Caren. My husband likes it too cold for me. I do enjoy it cool inside in summer but he likes it colder because it helps him breathe easier as he has COPD. I enjoyed your lazy day.xxoo

Thank you Connie. I think there are many women who suffer from this.
