Laughter
I remember the ways we laughed
together, for no reason at all.
I was talking to my friends and you listened in.
Of all the subjects there were,
we talked about hair
and how it always covered our eyes.
You quickly joined in our conversation,
soon the subject changed
and we talked in our little two person group.
We laughed,
and then the teacher glared
at us and said “Shut up”
in Japanese.
When he looked away
we quietly continued
our strange conversation.
