Laugh-In

The highlight of our week
Knock knock
         who’s there ?

A barrage of punchy one-liners
Hilarious skits to crack you up
Ruth Buzzi swinging her purse
Lily Tomlin at the switchboard
One ringy dingy…
         two ringy dingy

Rowan & Martin’s snide remarks
Giggles from behind doors
Goldie Hawn flashing her smile
And her infectious laughter
Unconditionally raising
Sunday night’s goofy silliness
To new lofty altitudes
Of exuberant cheerfulness
Lavishly overflowing
          well into...
                    bluesy Monday mornings

Congratulations on your win. A laugh is the best thing going. They sure do not make TV shows like they did in the past. Enjoy your weekend.........

Congratulations Line. Always loved "Laugh In." Thanks for bringing it back to mind. It was as creative as your poem and I love your ending.

Thanks, Sam. I really do remember attributing my good mood on Mondays to Laugh-In episodes. It was a treat.

Line, on occasion my husband and I catch the old "Laugh-In" show on T.V. Thank you for the nostalgic journey of laughter. Congratulations on your placement. ~ Sonia

Really, that's interesting. I didn't know there were reruns. I'll be on the lookout. Thanks, Sonia.

Comedy was fun and silly, then. It has become far too serious. Only sexual connotations or bathroom humor is now funny. The language? Not for the little ones. Wonder when this shift occurred. I was doing stand up in the 70's and no porn jokes or off color words were allowed. Pretty raunchy on TV now, Panagitota. Xx

I refuse to go to Comedy Shows for exactly that reason!~ chances are you'll be subjected to raunchy humor and it's very unpleasant when you can't just change the channel when you've had enough.

Yes, was truly funny! We don’t see too much funny today. The seventies took off with its antics...thanks for the memories!

I guess Saturday Night Live would come close but it is nowhere as zany and uplifting. I loved the seventies.

I used to laugh my head off at that crazy show, Line. Good, descriptive poem. (Lily Tomlin was the phone operator.) Janice

Thanks, Caren. I get the feeling you could easily start your own show. And that of course is a compliment. LOL
