Last Summer

My memories of you were never really lost

Though fading more in every season's turn

But I’ve found at last the nook in which they hide

Deep down in forgotten quarters of my mind

In a spark my thoughts repaired

The bleaching color of your smile

and now you are so clear within my heart

I realize with the breathing summer air

That our memories are scattered everywhere

I see us soaring with our kites

And our beings dancing with the sultry breeze

Within a glance I also see us in the sand

With love prints we have left behind,

Along with the yearning waves

For the promised kiss they'll cast to shores

When I peek at our once-shared bungalow

My memories there strike me with awe

How our love fuels us through the night

And how your craving touch tickles my heart

The way we fill each others crevices

Detonated pleasures sleeping in our flesh

And the way we sway in frenzied heat

'Til we reach the skies in sweet delight

But one night the envious heavens make a plot

With the conniving rain they extinguish our flame

I don’t know how to recover from pain

When you are taken by the jealous rain

But I know your spirit still exist

As to our appointed star still shining in the west

Such a beautiful poem, Juan. I hope you enter it in Dr. Ram's "elegy" contest. Very moving. I lost my husband when I was young and I know what you mean when you say "your spirit still exists." I feel him all around me. Love, Carolyn

What a very moving story weaved in your beautiful poem, Juan! You sure used wonderful metaphors here as well--quite a bittersweet write but that's so wonderfully told-- & haha my goodness, you sure left me speechless (although smiling as well) with how my Aphrodite poem moved you ;) Do feel free to print a copy for yourself, I'd be honored if you did-- just a favor? Please include my name there-- super thank you! :)-- nikko :)

Smile ~ "Completely Perfectly Awesomely Beautiful" ~ "Hello Dear Gifted & Wonderful Juan Paolo Galua" ~ What a tragedy when love is stolen away by jealousies of outsiders; never knowing if had they not tampered with its beautiful gift if, its union would have found its way unto loves eternity....Yet, I love the hope within Your final verse my dear friend for, I too have "A Beautiful Love," that I have long now dreamed of spending forevermore with ~ ....Cont:)
