Last Night's Dream

I had a dream real late last night
alone and cold in bed
It woke me up until the light
You should have seen me such a sight
I wish I'd slept instead

I think I dreamed of something sweet
my mouth still had the taste
I don't know what I had to eat
The image isn't quite complete
But it wasn't quite a waste

One thing's for sure, the dream was nice
it must have been of you
Because it had a certain spice
I wish I could have dreamt it twice
Instead I woke up blue

I'll try tonight to slumber deep
it's what I'll have to do
'Cause if I try to stay asleep
I might then in the morning keep
My dream of loving you
