Last Night

Last Night Sleep, Oh elusive wisp of rest. You run and hide your arms from me. I chase, then fall and lie awake 'Til finally I rise To face a tired day.

A 7 for this concise, descriptive piece from a brand-new Soup member. Welcome, Beverly. Since I joined 14 months ago, I have written more poems than I usually write in three years! Janice

Thank you, Janice. I like concise and descriptive. Is a 7 good? I'm guessing that it is, but being new here I don't know. If I didn't already check out your writings, I will. I've been wandering around on the site and commenting here and there when I find something interesting. Also made a bio so I'm a real person... (smile)

Beverly, Welcome to Poetry soup, I hope you enjoy the community. Here, you will find friendly poets who enjoy supporting one another. I myself, enjoy reading and commenting those who want to be read. The only time I give constructive criticism is when a poet desires it. However, if for some reason the poem is not my field I will guide you to someone who is more qualified than I. Stop by and read one of my poems if you like. My poems are not perfect, but I have a feeling you might like one. I encourage you to check out the contest page and read to receive comments. Tell me a little about your poetic skills if you like. It will be my pleasure to follow and read every poem you post from here on :) We are Lucky To Have you. Your New Poet Friend @-> LINDA <-@

Thank you for the warm welcome. I'm having to type this one a second time because I didn't see the submit button so I hope I remember what I wrote the first time. It was good. I am somewhat of an old lady living up here in the mountains with my husband and my son. I am a real estate agent, but I love to write poetry and make photo art. I'm on Instagram as swandotter in case you're into that sort of thing. One of my recent art pieces is some branches with dancers on them. Back in the late 70's writing saved my sanity. So I've never quit. One of these days I'll post my long poem called Awakening which will tell more than anything what my life was like and the "coming to" that I experienced. Again, thank you for your nice note and warm welcome. Swandotter
