Last Forever

i thought
the memories,
the feelings,
the attachment,
would last forever
but now i feel
them drift away
with each sunset i watch
and each breath i take

i told myself too many lies
i need
i have to
i cant
those lies
were so comforting
the obligation to stay
was a good excuse
not to move

now
i move my feet
across the desert
i move my lips
and the words that come out
become truer

i thought it would
last forever
but now i know
im the only thing
that ever will
