Landing Pad of Lies
Have the days have gotten darker
Maybe the sun is just hiding from me
I drew cheerful with a marker
Just so everyone could see
I just want to be sad
Run a river from my soul
Sail across the angry emotions
Wave a flag and let the hatred go
Can’t I be bad
But not feel the sorrow
Chip away the fleshy bits
Just remove the bone marrow
If you glue me back together
Does that make me brand new
Or maybe just a second-class citizen
Like what you’re used too
I flutter from fire breather
To angelic fables of hope
Exhausted from summersaulting
Tightening the line of emotional rope
Sometimes expectations morph
Desires drown out possibilities
It becomes an even playing field
Can we just be friends now please
I’d rather stick around
Than be cut loose
I’ll stand on the sidelines without a sound
Better than date you and then be excused
Skyrocketed through my glass ceiling
Had me spreading my wings
Forgetting I can’t fly, even if I’m still feeling things
Just like the gravity of your lies, you cut my strings
Puppeteer my point of view
Live in my dollhouse and unleash your abuse
Play make-believe with my feelings as a preview
Don’t forget to blame it on the booze
