Lamplight, Sunlight, Moonlight
I slip beyond the lamplight that dims
As Christmas darkens in this ending year,
To wait for the sunlight slipping behind the blue moon
To hide and wait for you.
The Christmas morn hangs its gifts that glisten
While children scamper in their drifting dreams.
You run to my ever waiting side,
Where I long to cuddle you.
Where I live for your touch, holding,
Smoldering, until the winter rain weeping
Empties its tears of spills for the lost dolls and cars,
And you hold my hands to comfort and care and love
In the sunlight that covers your golden curls,
To whisper into dawning delightful snowflakes,
Carried by the soft breeze of your sweet newborn breath
Surprising babes with clouds of morn of peace and joy.
