Lament of a Friend
A partisan in this fine fight
All beautiful and brash
He thought he stood for what was right
‘Til his dreams turned to ash
A revelation come too late
When worm’s meat he’d already made
For neither side had doomed his fate
But by both he’d been betrayed
Our friend’s life was not enough
You need more grist for your mill
You would not accept our kind rebuff
You harry us to no end still
I invoke the bard erstwhile
When through his fair Veronan quoth
‘Tis enough you villains vile
A plague upon your houses both
