Notes About The Poem

Written for The Trionet Contest sponsored By Emile J Pinet Trionet is a form Created by L Milton Hankins;

The first stanza follows the rules for a standard triolet of eight (8) lines  ABaAabAB (capital letters are repeated lines). The second stanza consists of six (6) lines, formed with five (5) lines repeated from the first stanza and adding an appropriate non-repeated rhyming last line with a rhyme scheme of AAABBb.

Lake of Angst

Mild mauve sky streams like lakes of blushing pearls weaving clouds of hope beneath my veiled tears, shrouding streaks of scarred sunsets with soft swirls. Mild mauve sky streams like lakes of blushing pearls. I turn to rose stars as midnight unfurls, and the moon serves love amidst woeful years. Mild mauve sky streams like lakes of blushing pearls, weaving clouds of hope beneath my veiled tears. Mild mauve sky streams like lakes of blushing pearls, shrouding streaks of scarred sunsets with soft swirls. I turn to rose stars as midnight unfurls, and the moon serves love amidst woeful years; weaving clouds of hope beneath my veiled tears, he feels the frozen angst behind my fears.

IE, seems like the mood of this is mostly sad as I read it. There are some hopeful signs, but it feels as though they don't prevail. That can happen and this captures the emotion in the title very well. I am feeling sorry for people afflicted with this. Smiles!!!

I would give you first just for the content. I saw the word, triolet, and wrote about a triangle, and didn't even come third.

Dear Empress, I really love this triolet and I have to Fav it after only one reading. I think you have beautifully employed the triolet form perfectly to create a lyrical meditation on hope and resilience. Why I love this form and what you have done shows through your artistic repeating lines in an unique displaying the contrast between a serene natural world and the inner turmoil landscape. What a beauty for poem's structure as it mirrors the cyclical nature of emotions. Yes, Hope can persist through periods of struggling. Good Luck in the contest! Autumn Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

My dear fairy goddess, your art of weaving so many different forms, effortlessly, is truly unparalleled and supreme! Trionet is such a tricky form and I'm absolutely awestruck with the way you've played with the words here whilst sticking so meticulously with the rules ~ the imagery you've hued is beyond enchanting and it touches my heart in every way! "Mild mauve sky streams like lakes of blushing pearls", "I turn to rose stars as midnight unfurls", "clouds of hope" Gosh, soul-hitting! All the rhymes, refrains, metaphors, adjectives and descriptions you've so skillfully woven which truly captivates one's spirit in this moonlit melancholy ~ you deserve all the golden accolades for your talent, dear sweet ink and I wholeheartedly admire your art!

I like the haunting, soulful feel of this work. And the positive ending: "weaving clouds of hope beneath my veiled tears, he feels the frozen angst behind my fears." Somehow...I don't always know how...but it does seem most problems do work out for our best. Even some deep heartache -- was really not the right match. Nor timing. Sensitive write.

Wow. This is gorgeous, Inky. If he does not care about syllable count being 10, I think it could be a to winner. Not only pretty, but deep. Glad you finally did it!

You can write on any form.. As always you never use simple descriptions, even with restricted forms like this.. We all need an escape from life, some have drugs and alcohol, you have the moon, stars and writing wonderful poetry... Your poem flows really well, I am sure Emile will love this one.. All the best in the contest..
