Notes About The Poem

Kurt the Astronomer

There was an astronomer called Kurt
Had star patterns all over his shirt
Discovered a new planet
Named it after wife Janet
But then on his lens found it was dirt.

Disappointed he hit the town’s bars
Tried crossing the road dodging the cars
But then he ran out of luck
Kurt got flattened by a truck
Now he is up there amongst the stars.

Thanks very much Andrea, the second stanza always takes a but more thought than the first, getting the correct syllables too is tricky. Tom.

Whoa! This is really great, Tom. I love the line about dirt on his lens; Kurt would have made a great radiologist too, I see. Congrats on your well-deserved win in the contest, my friend. Best wishes, Gershon

Thanks Alexis, when I first started writing them the syllables were way out so I do a rough draft and keep chopping or adding until they're right. Tom.
