Known Unto God

nameless hero’s sleep

                                          carrying allegiance
                                          to eternal graves

                                          a debt we owe
                                     to preserve their strife
                                      lest they died in vain

note: this is a "Cherita", a Malaysian poetry form created by Ai Li in 1997

Ironically, I gave money today to soldiers who spent their lives saving Americans now in "eternal graves" "The never ending "debt we to owe, to preserve their strife lest they died in vain" I am the stepdaughter of a navy seal, the niece of a Green beret who lost 2 limbs in V. Nam I always thanks vets anywhere for their allegiance". Meaningful one for me to find.

I too come from a family of 'heros'...and our "allegiance" is the least we can do, to those who men and women who serve our country. Blessings, Paulette

Hi Andrea, I have been so busy with workshops and submitting to literary journals; which have been proved to be quite successful. I have had a lot of my work published in Cherita Anthologies and other work published on line. I will return, I promise. XO Paulette

Andrea, so glad you liked this "cherita". It holds a lot of impact in just a few words. I have been working in this form, having a lot of success on being accepted for the cherita anthologies, the first one, "winter lands", published on Amazon this month. This is why you have not seen much of me these days....can not submit any previously published work, (which P.S. is considered as being published) for literary journals. Paulette

Too many heroes in unkempt graves...but God and His angels visit well their names, and the selfless sacrifice each made -- those who serve humanity, family, less important the earth cognomen, and more, the ordained reason: the sacred heart calls...and blessed warriors for Good obey onto death -- that simple. God knows them by Immortal Spirit -- their eternal name~ His Beloved!
