Knowing Glance

that look of knowing
the way God looked at Eve
after she bit into the apple
is how you look at me
a look which awakens
me to knowledge
knowledge I am naked
I see you looking inside
inside my thoughts
inside my soul
and I close my eyes
as if to hide the bitten apple
and when I open them
you're still there
knowing me
knowing I love you
knowing I am helpless
and vulnerable loving you
and when I feel your look
bearing deep into my heart
engraving your name there
I feel I should hide
cover myself with leaves
as Eve hid in the garden
ashamed I am weakened
by your knowing glance
