Kissed By the Breeze

One still summer day, I lay in my garden of pondering From where I could not see the sun And the light was somewhat vague Yet, it was summer Just like any other So, I thought back to the last It was, unmistakably, the same. I was lying still under shade While the garden grew and bloomed Some cheery crickets visited by But, I could not make them stay Flowers changed, how hastily, I could not pick one to keep And so they turned wild. I laid, like I do now in the garden But all beauty is slipping by I think of the times I have spent here What a waste it has been of life. I am unsure of things now that I see A cool summer breeze come to me It left shivers amidst the June heat A butterfly landed on my wrist For the first time, I held it. I was kissed by the breeze of awakening Allowing myself to sit up and realise I did not catch it before Because I never thought of trying. So I decided to pick a flower And went to touch its soft petals, I came about with one in my pocket Despite the bush having prickly thorns. It was sweet, beautiful to my eyes After all, all beauty is not slipping by.

"What a waste it has been of life. I am unsure of things now that I see" You have written about the significance, nature for one! Lovely poetry, Akanksha
