King David the Giant Killer
He gathered five stones for the fight of his life
only needed one the right one to win
He was a shepherd anointed to be king
young and handsome against Goliath a giant
arrogant and loud he spoke with so much venom
in despair everyone ran away as faith hid behind fear
friends and foe alike took one look at David laughed
ridiculed by the devil but he had faith no turning back
faith is all he had left, evil would not prevail
looked bad for him man's armour was awkward
it was like carrying the weight of the world
death smiles impatiently waiting for anyone someone
to be released from their earthly costume
He ran to do battle to be written for you and me
Goliath wore sword spear and javelin a fearful sight
along the way David picked up five smooth stones
put one in his sling always looking to the heavens
meanwhile Goliath swore with contempt
of David’s coming end a storied fight
he drew with words a painting of sorts
the results of his handiwork on David’s parts
without hesitation faith as his shield
David’s stone left his sling and the Giant was silenced
evil was be-headed by a shepherd, a smooth stone
and God
