Kids and Crowns

Controversial....
drowning in a ibyss
of sequins and rhinestones
accented with patent leather shoes.
Forced into perfection
with pasty concrete smiles.
Tangled webs of lipstick and lollipops,
cheers and cheerios.
The confusing mix of a
glitzy, glamorous grownup world
and dimpled grins at war
with the tooth fairy.
Behind the false lashes
coiffed hair, plastic teeth,
the true novice soul emerges
leaving behind raccoon eyes
and powder streaked faces.
Encouraging or exploitive?
Mastering self expression
and confidence, perhaps
but what of the confusion
that manifests between
role-playing and real life?
Controversial....
