Keep It Real
(This poem is not a criticism of poetry nor the works of others. Introspection is a large theme in my writing. This poem is entirely about my own lifetime of writing, wondering if sometimes, as opposed to actually participating, I hid in poetry and thus lived vicariously and not outright. Hence the title: "Keep It Real.")
Love to a sonnet
should not
be confined?
even worse
a spray of Free Verse,
if leaving the Heart
no true
Beating-place:
So, keep it real:
let the Rose yet feel
its scent rising above
the page;
and Rolling-hills
and Watery-spills,
such motion
a Liquid-pen
often stills—the soul
one's victim
when Writers' passions
are little more
than frills....
