Just Ranting
Not all addictions are negative.
For instance, I am very fond
of breathing. A cool sip of water
on a bake-day break. Walking tandem
in the moonlight. Romance and poetry
seeming as important to my health as good
blood flow and a rich bowel movement --
somehow all looped in a complex
biology.
What I feel in my mind as important
as my other senses. What is taken
from the outside, categorized and
stored internally. I have many shelves
for keepers, interactive and those in
saving repose. The mind, a chemical,
electrical alchemy of sorts. Transforming
perceptions into ruling currents
that ebb and flow as do the earth’s
seas. I guess, gravity reaches deep,
to my way of thinking lays down and lifts,
enlarging science. I see a Creator, behold a loving
heart dissolving that apple-distance between
a mythical garden and my living room. The
ancients called them gods, we scoff while defending
our guardian angels. Reality is also thought I think;
more than the process somehow our views a dimension
alive. In my later years becoming more aware and fondest
of an interloping, spiritual Sixth Sense. An imagined helium soul.
Is death a burst of bubble, or soaring release? One’s life a nibble, or
all of the feast.
