Just One More

Just one more bar of chocolate It can't do any harm But you're 16 stone and rising Soon you'll belong on a farm Another six quid in the machine For the latest packet of fags No ice cream for the kids today But at least they're not in rags Six hours on the net already But sleep can wait for now If the wife ever sees my internet history There will be one hell of a row Just one more million for the CEO Add it to the pile Looking down from his ivory tower As the dole queue stretches for a mile Another bloody corpse It's like the set from Thriller Just wait till the cops find The basement of this serial killer Six visits to the hospital already Your luck will surely run out How often can you overdose Before the lights go out? Addiction knows no boundaries And we all have a cross to bear So don't be so judgmental It simply isn't fair

I despise people who judge. Yes, we all have our crosses to bear. An awesome write. Much in every verse. Love, Shar

Wow...this poem speaks volumns on overcoming the valleys of addiction...all kinds of addiction. You are right...no one can pass judgement on another...who knows what they have dealt with in life. Great writing!..~Carrie
