Just Down the Road

It was but a dirt lane. Berry bushes skirted it. Beyond were grandpa’s fields of grain. Just down the road was the barn and framed yellow house with white fence - home to my mom’s parents, now dead, like memories that too soon will be buried.

Been going back to some of my favorite poets' earlier works and found this one that I really like. Shows a more contemplative you. I'm still looking for your quadruple!!! Where is it! You have sooo many. In answer to your question about my "Toddler's Dream" for MR's contest. It didn't place. I think she was looking for more train then fantasy?? As nice as it feels to be appreciated when you place. I love the contests for the challenge not winning. I'm not very competitive.

A sad end to this poem. We hope to never lose our precious memories of home. But, something so simple as returning there can bring them right back to us. Your poem was very moving and quite beautiful, Andrea! Congrats on your win!

A very plain setting, but in memory these scenes are often most dear. Love, daver

Some how I don't think that you'll forget. Nice piece of poetry. You give us all the chance to live it, in our own way.

Lovely memories. By sharing them, you have avoided their burial. This etheree is a perfect painting of Americana.

You certainly are prolific! Speaking of memories I have a print of Salvador Dali's "The Persistence of Memory" hanging on my wall. Keep 'em coming! Peace and Love Matthew Anish

will our words one day be read somewhere down the road? I enjoyed this contemplative piece. I often wonder if any of my poems will survive beyond me.

This took me to a hillside and I could see myself holding a photograph of my grandmum/dad in front of a farmhouse when they were still alive. Warm. Bittersweet. Nostalgic.

There's time enough to take a walk down that ole dirt lane. Where memories remind us of a time that seemed more sane. So when that gentle breeze blows in just join in the refrain. And sing away those solemn blues that cause bitter sweet pain. Have a nice sunday Andrea.
