Just a Piece of Paper

A simple piece of paper,
Just words written,
As you look at your name,
The tears fall and,
Your heart swells with pride.
Yet, it's much more than,
Just a piece of paper,
It's your soul inside your heart.
It shows who you are,
What you've done,
How hard you worked for it.
Your brave soul and strong heart,
Shows your honor, Integrity, and character.
I look upon this law degree,
On a simple piece of paper,
Smiling and glowing,
As bright as the sun,
As ancestors look back,
Proud that I am the first.
Yet, years later,
My heart is ripped out of my soul.
A thief in the night,
Takes my hopes, my dreams, my life,
As I look at the,
Empty space on the wall.
I feel the anger fuel my soul and,
Then I realize this was not,
Just a simple piece of paper-
It was my hopes, my dreams, my life,
These can never be replaced.

No, way beyond a piece of paper. ADHD, took alot more studying than ppl realize. I recorded every single course, haha. Only the difficult ones haha. Thank you for your kind and thoughtful comments.
