Just a Little Word

It was a tiny thing Just a little word Made up of little letters That you planted in my heart You didn’t think much of it You patted it down And covered it with love It wasn’t much Just a little word Little letters Laced with encouragement Dipped in love Buried In my heart Watered by my tears Warmed by the sunlight of your care Growing G r o w i n g Strong and beautiful A word tree Bursting into bloom Breathtakingly Beautiful Blossoms Flowers that never shrivel Or fall Or get blighted by the frost of criticism Eternally growing In the garden of my heart I weep tears of joy Exuberant joy You planted A little word seed Not knowing My heart is fertile My heart is rich My tears plentiful Not knowing You’d left me An eternal gift Of wonder and beauty “But," you say, “It just was a word!" u s j t a t y i n l i t t l e W O R D Eileen Manassian Ghali

this is so adorable and I love how you formed the flower that bloomed from that word seed. your free verse style is sweet and beautiful, Eileen. You wear your emotions on your sleeve and people really respond to that.

Your mom sounded like such a beautiful & amazing woman. I think that when we lose people we love, the hollowness that they take with them, is always there, but yes, the memories we have of them keep them alive-- you're so right, they are there in our hearts. Thank you so much again! I'm smiling right now, in his memory.

Awww shucks, I really "dig" the metaphor that you used here, Eileen! Isn't it amazing indeed when what others seem to be negligible, could mean the world to another? Grow into so much more for them? I love the metaphor you used here, and I am a Huge sucker for formatting in poems, I really enjoyed this one, Eileen! Very creative write! Thanks so much for all your encouraging words- it really touches me, what you say. I'm so sorry about you losing your mom, I can only imagine how hard it is.contd

Yes, Connie. My love language is touch and words of affirmation. Have you read the book, "Love's Languages"? There are five. These two are mine. Yes, words really touch my heart. Thanks for stopping by. BTW...I've made mention of you and your form in my latest blog, if you can to visit. Hugs

Hi Eileen; just a tiny kittle word! ... but it's the base on which this whole poem stands...and flourishes. A lovely poem in all its simplicity. /x/ paul

:) Thank you, Paul. I've been thinking of encouragers and what a big impact they leave on our lives. Some people, like Barnabas of the Bible, are SONS (and daughters) of encouragement. What a joy to be around these people. Little do they know...their words...bring such joy! Thank you for visiting, Paul. :) Blessings
