Juneteenth
Freedom
June 19 1865
Was a great day to be alive
It was the celebration to end slavery
Thank you all for the bravery
All the things that we endured
All obstacles that occurred
We went through it
We sacrificed
Some paid the price
It wasn't nice
Seem surreal
We couldnt speak on how we feel
We had to manage
Do what we had to do
Dreams were crushed
Some never came true
We stood in unity
Before they thought of communities
We shared a bond
We shed tears
We went all these years
In fear
But the day came
Yes it was here
That day seemed so crystal clear
Chains were broken
Generational curse
Could it get reversed
Tears of joy
No longer feeling owned
We were free could do things on our own
Without supervision
Making our own decisions
We bled , we cried , some even died
We tried
We kept going
In a world that didnt want us to keep growing
We were like a solid
Frozen
But dont forget we were always chosen ?? ??
Chosen to be great
In a world full of errors and mistakes.
We were here
Even in fear
We rose
No longer controlled
We were bold
Had a heart of gold
And character
We had laughter ??
We started to see the change
We were always more than just a name
We were
Queens ,goddesses and Kings
We were
And we are still a big deal
How can we help people heal
Educate them
On all that went on
Hug them
We all need someone to love on
Speak life into them
Like its never been spoken
Give wisdom
That's the greatest token
Take a moment
To thank all the ancestors that are still here and the others who passed on
Hold out your hand you dont have to do this alone
We are all equal
Juneteenth was not a sequel
Its a day yesrs ago
That we were free
We could be let go
Freedom to speak
Freedom to say
Freedom to know that one day everything will be ok
Freedom has come
Freedom is still a thing
Martin Luther King
Gave us Freedom to dream
Take back your self
Gain your respect
You are great
Dont let anyone tell you less
Thank you Sojourner you are the truth
Thank you so much
We will educate the youth
Its a day we will never forget
Dont hold those ideas back
Speak them into existence
Keep them coming
You don't have to keep running
Stop you have giving it all you got
Happy Juneteenth
Lets celebrate
Free
A free version of you a free version of me
