Juneteenth
June weddings, white, lacey, crisp, pure,
Under starlit canopy, soft wispy materials
Nestled into the crook of her true love’s arm, a bride
Ever glowing, celebrating her soldier husband’s return and vows
Tethered in history and tradition, a June bride and her loving man
Each thinking of the life they will lead, the children for the wife
Each wondering what their unity will bring in the way of love, life and celebration
Neither realizing some hardships and heartaches will come along the way
Together fully and completely, beginning their unique
History with each other
