Journey to the End

Follow the winds of the Harpies. Follow to the sigh of last breath. Horrid hounds of Zeus beckoning for you to embrace your dark death. Follow the heights of Icarus Follow till the blazes burn out. Sol, a dragon's igneous mouth gaping, awaiting chance to spout. Follow to the depths of Phorcys Follow till you whiff your last gasp. Dangers of the depth await you. Life quickly slipping from your grasp. Follow clamant drums of Ares. Follow till your ears hear no more. War exacts an egregious toll. Life ends in a sorrowful roar.

Don't know about mythology so I just have to guess. I think some of them died in horrible ways or were banished to be something they did not want to be so I am guessing this is good writing. Thank you for sharing it and for dropping by my page. Sara K

Linda, This is a haunting! The imagery is searing, each line a brushstroke in a dark yet strangely alluring canvas. You've captured the finality of mortality with a raw power that both terrifies and compels. It's a poem that demands to be felt, its echoes lingering long after the last verse. Even as I acknowledge the darkness that waits at the end. Powerful piece! - Blessings, Daniel

Daniel, your words are deeply touching. Seldom do I receive such in-depth comments. I strive to elicit some kind of feelings and if my work can emote a strong reaction (for better or worse), all the better for me. I've done my job. :) hugs and blessings, Linda

having the mythological references added depth and meaning to your poem--a poem that resonated with me, for I abhor war and the horror and tragedy that comes with it. Nicely done, Sara

Hey! One of best poems displaying knowledge of classical roots of poetry. Wish we all knew more of it.. Linda and I’m making it a favorite.. You are very artistic in poetry…I know you are an artist in other ways. Thank you for being part of my life. Wars have existed since time began and heroes died for freedom of their countries! May we always have heroes. Peace comes when God returns. The world is nuttier than ever so it won’t be very soon.. huggs, Pangie xxx Panagie xxx .
