Journey Through the Mountains
Life is like an ever changing mountain range,
Valleys of tall grass,
Peaks of happiness that we strive for,
And the hidden ponds and rivers,
That dare to drown us all.
We are all at a different point,
Resting atop a peak,
Or wandering through the tall grass.
And some are in the ponds and rivers,
Either swimming with virtue towards something better,
Or sinking deeper and deeper into the void like water.
To avoid what is hidden is a talent one must come to find,
For the grass is tall,
Having never been cut by anyone before you,
And the waters near are silent,
Gentle waves crawling towards you,
but always pulled back before they make it.
Though some of us are careless.
“Oh that couldn't happen to me”
A constant thought in their minds as they walk.
Though there are ponds and rivers in everyone's life,
Some of us are always on the brink of sadness.
And those found careless don't know what to do,
When they make that misstep,
And the water grabs at their feet and pulls them in.
Ones on the mountains are always upon constant ledges and cliffs,
A steep drop just daring them to trip.
But those up there keep climbing,
Finding new foot holes,
A higher peak to make their goal.
Though with all life,
They will have to eventually descend,
And you never know if it’s going be quick or smooth.
The peaks reach a limit eventually,
Though some may never make it,
On that daring edge they will be,
A wrong turn will send them plummeting.
And they will have yet to start again,
The tall grass and the Rocky Mountains,
Peaks to eventually descend.
A constant move forward until the mountain range ends.
After that,
who knows.
