Jerry's Thoughts
It’s poetry time at W.C.I.
Y’all gather round and I’ll tell you why.
Once again, Ole’ Sarge I bored.
Remembering back to old feelings stored.
He thinks of his life and what he has done.
He’s had bad times and he’s had fun.
His parent’s approval he tried to get.
He’s nearly 60 and ain’t got it yet.
With is mother, past, and wife gone.
Is there a reason for him to go on?
His father remarried and has a new life.
He stays mostly with family of his wife.
Since his father’s remarriage, he’s an outcast.
He wonders how long this feeling will last.
He must divorce, he knows that’s true.
He just doesn’t know what next to do.
He has a couple of friends who will stand by.
Though he really, really wonders why.
He knows this divorce needs to be done.
He knows that it will not be fun.
But he is tired of always being alone!
He needs more than a voice by telephone.
He wants someone to actually care.
He needs some to be there.
The last few years, she would not kiss.
That is when he knew things were amiss.
She said, "no sex till you lose 100 lbs.”
Then touching her became out of bounds.
She said she knew years ago.
That he didn’t lover her, and it’s time to go.
He knows their time is at end.
What he needs now is a friend.
