She was young, like the fawn,
The calf or lamb…
Heart alive with wonder
She wouldn’t listen to fear
Never a whisper of worry
She grasped life by the tail
And said, “hurry”!!
When she married, she expected
More of the good, but she misunderstood
Her husband was suspicious
Watched her like a green eyed monster
Ever fearful of losing his wife
He chose to protect her with his life
Young and vibrant, ever the innocent
She fell in love with another
His heart was bruised and he followed through
With placing a gun to her head
Telling her soon she’d be dead
She only whispered tenaciously,
“Go ahead… I deserve it”
And he looked at her, had mercy
Placed the gun on the shelf
Watched her leave despite the pain
That swirled in his veins
As he watched her close that door
Near death, she found
Was something that would abound
Inside a heart who expects
To reach beyond better
To find the very best there is
The best being love that lives
In the heart of one who gives
Without conditions, completely
Love that instills the belief
That God shelters trusting souls
With His ever abiding hope…
For the glory of heaven’s shore!
