Jealousy

Overwhelming waves of jealousy
                             masking waves of pain,
                             are you really back again?

Why won't you let me go.
Why won't you set me free.
                            Let me be, oh Jealousy.

                           Why do you linger still?
Why do you rear your ugly head?
Will you haunt me ‘til I’m dead?

All his smiles and laughter sweet,
His curl of lip that swept me off my feet,
The magic of his pen never to write for me again.

                          But I hang on.
                          I hold my tongue
and my song will not be sung.

Even the moon needs a window to voice about the shadow on it. I like the way you do yours in the beautiful lines. Thanks for sharing this poem.

It is too hard for some to let go, but that is exactly what needs to be done for freedom from jealousy to be expelled. Many times the object of our affection will turn around to pursue us if we release them. That would be my sage advice that I have seen triumph many times. There is none thing more desirable than self confidence! : ) a poem many can relate to.

Thank you for saying that, Charlie. That is so true. I've always "worn my feelings on my sleeve" so to speak. So, what you see is what you get. And, I admit it: I am the jealous type...especially if I love someone. In my opinion, it's normal. What's not normal to me is someone who isn't. or "says" they aren't jealous because IMO...it signals either a lack of care or a lie. The trick is simply to control it because there is a difference between being jealous and "insanely" jealous and sometimes it "ain't" easy, especially if you're half Irish and red-headed. lol Carole :D

I didn't, ZZ. It's the "jealousy" that came back. It's like a poison. Carole :(

These are bitter-sweet words, Carole. Jealousy can cause pain, so it's best to kick it aside...and do the same to the cause of it! ~ Regards // paul

Thank you, Maria. Of course the poem just came to me while I was "in the depths". And, yes there was "glitch" for sure because I had to post this poem twice for it to show up. Carole :D
