Jagged
Among the broken shards that lay
Diamonds glitter in the dust
Cuts and wounds trace a jagged path
Across my bleeding heart
I reach my hands to gather all of them
Those fragile bits that scattered all about
Along this path, a chosen vision seen
To hold them, precious pieces, next to me
For even the most beautiful flower
Will wilt when cut
But while I will grow myself more rugged still
To hold thorn strong against a life so bruised
My murmur of faith can be gently felt
As I rise beside the fallen shadow parts
By morn my eyes will see the sun arise
My imperfections beautifully repaired
Just wait until I mend upon this shore
And I will surely fly away again
Jagged contest
9-12-21
8-13-21 I Will Fly Away
10th place
