I don't mean to denigrate in any way the uproar over Trump's behavior, over those ill-treated for their gender preferences, or over any form of sexual abuse. The message of this poem is to redirect some of our rage toward the enemies of our country and the enemies of humanity overseas--especially those whose hands are caked in blood. Fighting for justice and fighting against evil begs prioritization at times.
While we sit on our rumps and curse about Trump,
Assad murders thousands with chemical weapons dumps.
While we fuss, fume, and fret about gender change,
Iran's mullahs ramp up plutonium to nuclear range.
While we rally for movie starlets on the casting couch,
Putin cuts down opponents with a poison touch.
It's normal to moan a bit and even complain,
But when so many are slain by bully rulers in vain,
It's time to wake up and do the right thing:
Time to reign in Assad, the mullahs, and Putin;
Time to call out those against whom we should be rootin'!
